Opening of the cycle path from Larkhall to Chatelherault on 11th October 2012.
South Lanarkshire Council has asked if there are any members of the RACC who would like to support the opening of the cycle path on 11th October 2012, the event is entitled Connect2.
If so, they would like us to cycle from the Mausoleum or the Hamilton end of the park, to arrive in Chatelherault Park for 11.30am where they will meet children whove cycled from Larkhall.
At this time there will be the unveiling of the Portrait bench and the official opening of the cycle path.
It was hoped club members could cycle back to Larkhall with the children after the festivities are over. I appreciate this is a working day but if any members can help it would be greatly appreciated.
If you require more information please contact Eleanor Gibson of South Lanarkshire Council on 01698 453617. |

But the cycle path is the second rate nonsense everybody knew if would be (same goes for the second rate nonsense on the Bothwell Road,Hamilton). Hope you told Eleanor that |

Agree with you Jim, for your club cyclist/fast tourer the path is not fit for purpose.
But as a route for kids and families to get from Larkhall to Chatelerhault it's pretty good (except for the last 100 yards, where you have to cross the main road twice)
As an opportunity to promote the club to the local community, and perhaps get a picture in the paper, it could be useful for us. |
