Jocky has asked that as many members as possible drop in to Tescos (old Truckstop site) on Saturday at 12 noon to take part in a short charity (exercise) bike ride. Please wear kit if you have it.
Handy at the end of a run, and know wot? You get a cup of tea!
This is a good opportunity to show off the Club, particularly on the back of us being on the back page of the Hamilton Advertiser today, with a great pic of Aileen winning one of her Beijing medals.
In addition, it will do us no harm at all to associate ourselves with Tesco in this way. You never know what could come of it...
I'll be there with the camera, which should also give us some good pics for local papers the following week.
I'll post again tomorrow once I speak to the organiser to get more details.
Thanks everyone.

The background to this is that Tesco collect money for an 'annual charity' and this year it's for Clic Sargent, a charity for children with cancer and leukemia.
The Community Champion at Tesco, is Norah Kilgour, who used to work at the Truck Stop, and knows many of the cyclists who used to go there. There's also a lady called Margaret, who works at the bakery in Tescos, who is a cyclist. Then along came the catalyst, a certain Jocky Johnstone!
Norah will be arranging for stalls, bric a brac and tombola and there will be a bucket collection - all in the foyer area. She spoke to Jocky (who knows absolutely everyone!) and asked if the Club can help. They are trying to raise 1000 this weekend. Although it's on both Saturday and Sunday, it would be good if as many of us as possible could go at 12 noon on Saturday.
Some Tesco staff are going on a cycle trip to Peru and they will be taking part too.
They will have 2 excercise bikes and the sessions will be about 5 minutes each. Our type of cycling shoe should be ok in the exercise bike pedals, but remember, it's just fun to help out.
What Jocky is suggesting is that some of the 'younger' members, wearing the Club jerseys, would provide great advertising for the Club, and we may get a pic in the Lanarkshire Gazette. So, if you're under 55 please come along for a short while.
We currently enjoy good publicity at the north end of the membership corridor, but not down here, where we actually do most of our cycling! C'mon, let's do this!
However, if anyone wants to use a set of ROLLERS, I could bring them down - now that would be a REAL cycling exhibition!
Hope to see you there.....
Dennis (on behalf of Jocky)

Jocky, Sandy, John T, Tommy M, George took part in Tesco's fun-raising event today, with Dennis looking on with the camera. Saddle on the exercise bike was too low for a certain athritic joint, was the excuse.
Tea and coffee etc in the staff canteen was just like the old days at the Truck Stop.
Club poster now on the Tesco notice board.
See pics in website gallery.
