Today, I contacted the editor of a free, quarterly Community Newsletter called 'Communitymatters', based in Larkhall and covering Larkhall, Stonehouse, Netherburn and Ashgill. The readership is 10,000 people -right on the Club's doorstep!
He asked me to send in a piece today for the next issue, the closing date for which is tomorrow, which I have done. He also asked for the Club logo and I added a few pics hoping that one of them might be published along with the article. What a gift for a Press Secy!
Would members in the Larkhall area please look out for the next issue and let us know if Derek, a Leadhills Bunch or Scott and Cameron are now famous!
Dennis

I'ts been confirmed that Scott and Cameron Anderson's pic has been chosen by the editor of the Larkhall Newsletter ('Communitymatters'), along with the Club Logo, to accompany my article promoting the Club. Copies of the paper will be sent to me as soon as it is in print.
A great sideways shot of Derek (who also missed out on the website homepage pic) cruising along by the River Tweed on last years Peebles run was, would you believe, pipped into second place...
Promise to make the 'Derek of the Tweed' pic the first one in a homepage slide show that James is working on.
The pic of Scott and Cameron (possibly more the latter than the former!) could encourage parents to enquire, on behalf of young people, about joining the Club. If so, this could lead the Club towards having a Welfare Officer, which is a subject advocated by Scottish Cycling and is already on the agenda for the next Committee Meeting.
The article that the above newsletter will carry, will also be in two sister newsletters covering large populations in the Hamilton and Bothwell areas, in the Spring (just missed the latest issue dates for them). This is good news too, as the 'corridor' running from Larkhall to Bothwell is also a potentially rich source of new members.
