|
|
Hi All,
I am currently in correspondence with South Lanarkshire Council Roads Department re the state of the roads in the area.
Although I will be acknowledging the amount of work that has been carried out in the last year or so, I would like club members to let me know of their favourite 'bad bits' of road that are still not repaired (significant patches or bigger stretches). I would then report these, along with my own, in the one letter.
Kirkmuirhill (B7078 between M8 ramp and the Strathaven Road) is being done now and the two 'Truckstop' roundabouts are due to be done shortly, along with the hill north of Pathhead cafe on the B7078. The Blackwood section (from Strathaven Road to the motorway bridge) will be done within the next 3 years, but some patches have just been done.
Your '10' times will now come tumbling down!
I'm sure that this subject is close to your hearts, as it is mine, so please let me have your own list of problem areas, defined by the exact location. Also, let other cyclists (who are not on the internet) know and ask them to contact me with their favourite fork-breaking locations too.
Thanks,
Dennis |

Does it have to be Clydesdale or can it be South Lanarkshire in general?
Anyway here are a couple of my current bugbears.
Glasgow Road (the old road) at Nerston Village,East Kilbride.
Nerston Road from Glasgow Road (the main EK/Rutherglen road) to Rogerton.
They have been busy painting bikes on the road and putting up signs in this area but the roads themselves are terrible.
Milleugh Road as it enters Stonehouse. The lower section of this road has been chip and sealed but the top section is a mess of sunken trenches and patches upon patches.
The CTC have a website (Fillthathole) which allows you to report road faults. I have used it many times over the last few years and I think it does work.
I agree it is fair to aknowledge the improvement in the last couple of years in the state of the quet lanes useful for cycling. I did the Round Strathaven 50 last Sunday and the condition of the lanes around Drumclog,Sandford,Glassford etc was the best in quite a few years. |
