Sorry to put a damper on this, guys, but if this race is being run on the same basis as our Auchlochan 'Races' last year, ie as an unregistered racing event (where there are winners, losers, prizes), there are important insurance implications. Sad

It is our understanding that, in the event of a claim, the solicitors would look very scrupulously at any incidents on a case by case basis, and may consider that the activity falls into the category of an unregistered race (this is particularly important if a third party is involved, who may then sue if a rider causes an accident).

If so, the insurance, both at Club (even if an affiliated Club were organizing it, which appears not to be the case) and individual levels, would not provide cover.

For this reason, the Club decided to change the basis of our Auchlochan 'Race' to a simple 'training run' without winners and prizes, simply to allow riders to practice tactics in a bunch situation. This is the same scenario as the present Bundy rides.

Thought it only fair (and right) to let our Club members know this in advance of the Bundy race.

Dennis

Would love to, but going to the Edinburgh festival next tuesday and wednesday. I could do with the extra cash too. Laughing

Re: above, Me, Rik and Derek "raced" up the Mennock Pass on Sunday with the loser buying the teas(ok, this never came to fruition as Derek had no money, he also had no food but that's another story),I also have a sprint at the end of Strathclyde Park with Lewis with a trophy for the winner. Are the above a no go either?
PC/health and safety/Doom and gloom mob gone mental.
