Am going over to Ayr for this run in great cycling country. Takes in the famous climb, Nick o' the Balloch, used for years in the famous Girvan 3 day race. 9.30am start at the famous Burns' Cottage. It should only take about 45 mins to get there from this neck of the woods.

If you would like to come let me know and we could maybe organise transport. The organiser is Tony Carrigan, who was with us on the famous Blackwood/Peebles Run. The bunch is up to about 10 at the moment, and hands up who likes the a big bunch ride.

And, who knows, you might also become, em, famous?

Dennis

Still up for this, Paul? Anyone else interested?

I would want to leave here 8am latest to get to Ayr in time for start at 9.30am.

Can only take 2 bikes and 2 people, or 1 bike and 4 people, but then there would be something missin'... Rolling Eyes

Hi Paul,

Update:

You, JohnC and I are going on this one, but we're still trying to sort the transport, as I may be going on the tandem with Aileen McGlynn. And tandems are too big for caurs!

Charlie may be going too.

Will get back to you by tomorrow.

Dennis

Dave, how many people with bikes can you take, and could that include a tandem?

Dennis,The van can only seat two and take two maybe three bikes at a push. Its just the size of an estate car. Can Paul and me. Follow you. Down , Bit unsure of the way ..

Sorry for the delay guys, but I was trying to pull various threads thegither.

Alex is kindly lending me his van, which I'll pick up today. The plan is to leave Blackwood at 7am, rondyvoo with you guys at Canderside Roundabout (NHS warehouse entrance) at 7.10am sharp, pick up JohnC at Uddingston at 7.30am then drive along M8 to M77, pick up Aileen and the tandem at Crookston at 8am then head for Ayr. The van is not as quick as the car, so I want to leave plenty of time. Tony plans to leave at 9.30am.

So, if you, Dave and Paul, are happy with tagging along on this basis, that's fine. You could of course go direct if you want. Either way, please post here today and let me know. Thanks.

I don't know yet if Charlie is going.

We are taking the view that, whatever the weather, we'll have a great day out in fine countryside. Cool

Sounds like a plan. I'm good with whatever Dave wants to do.

Dave - sent you a pm with my mobile number.

Dennis - you saying the van is not as quick as the car just shows that you have not yet sat in Alex's van Very Happy

I can assure you Alec's van is rather fast. We once left Larkhall at 10am and arrived in Ayrshire at 9.50am!
It could have something to do with Alec's driving though Smile
