Entries are open for this ride on Sunday 17 June 2012. Brilliant route that starts in Stirling and ideal for a fast time. Dukes Pass and Campsie Muir are the only two big climbs with a few other blips along the way. Unlike The Bealach Mor there is no need for a compact and the 53/39 will get you round fine. Plenty of flat in between the climbs and great for a small group to push hard. I know it's early days yet but I have put my entry in already. Having done it this year I know its a good event, well organised, plenty of riders, clearly signposted, etc. Entry is 28 and organisers look for you to raise 30 in sponsor. Not too hard..

Well, entry list is expected to top 700 with good spectrum of abilities. Route and organisational wise it's probably the best sportive that I have done in Scotland. Easy to get to as well. Quite a few sportives sell out but reckon this will remain open all the way up to the event itself.

Certainly can but there won't be 600 or more taking part so there isn't quite the same incentive to go for a hard ride. And all the money raised goes to charity unlike HandsOnEvents who run a business.

Good if it's for charity, what charity is it, the entry fee would get you a couple of nights in calendar, and a cracking training weekend.

I don't grudge having to spend 28 on a well run cycling event especially when all proceeds go to a worthy cause, in this case Action Medical Research. They help fund research and treatment for sick babies and children and run a whole host of cycling and other events all over the UK to help fund their charity. The staff who help organise these events put in a lot of their own time and effort and do so entirely voluntarily.

Cycling, is for the moment, becoming a more popular sport and for me especially the only reason I got back into cycling a few years ago was to compete in sportive rides. It's what I do and I have never raced and doubt if I ever will. I am sure that many others like me are in entirely the same position and just like to get out on their bike and feel the benefits of a healthier lifestyle.

Many sportives that are organised in the UK are charity based so I am more than happy to support them by taking part in the sport that I love.
