I will be riding the 51 mile ride with my old man, and a couple of mates.
After doing a 1hr 19 min for a 25 mile TT at the weekend i think 100 miles would take me a couple of days.

I finished with the 4th fastest time in the Pedal for Scotland 100 mile Sportive. Very Happy
My time was 5hrs and 33 seconds. It could have been better as I took a couple of wrong turns in Edinburgh!! Embarassed
I'm really chuffed but I don't think all times were logged. I set off with Greg Brown (Bundy man) and Greg finished before me but he is not in the list of finish time.

Well done thommo, was a miserable day. Tailwind section over last 20miles was awesome though.

Pretty sure Greg would have had fastest time, know some others, myself included, who haven't had the times register either. I was on for a 4hr50something but got sent wrong way by a marshall and ended up wasting 15mins finding the right way and telling an official they had messed it up, so hopefully that helped out the next people. Crap end to my day though.

With times like that, you guys should be riding a 100 next year!

In regular conditions, and on TT bikes (if you can get 'em), you'd be well up there. Cool

Paul,
I agree, the marshalling and signage in Edinburgh were poor. I wrote to the Pedal for Scotland organisers to inform them. The last 20 miles were awesome - 40+ mph on the flats! The steep climb was tricky in the damp conditions. Rear wheel slipping when out of the saddle and almost stalling while seated - my 11-23 rear cassette didn't help. I hung out with some Fawkirk guys at the start. We had a good chain gang going until we hit the first climb. I dropped them (benefits of Bundy training ) and hopped from group to group after that. A great day, even in the poor weather.

Dennis,
I think I will move over to the dark side (TT) next year.
I'll talk to Keith and the guys who do the TTs to get some info and get some advice on equipment.

Cheers,
Ian (Thomo)

Don't go to the dark side Thomo, resist! Laughing

Yea i think if i did it again i'd start a bit later so I could jump from group to group. I started near the front which meant after Greg had went by I was on my own for 65miles. Good training though!
