|
|
The Club is proud to announce that Aileen, World and Paralympic Cycling Champion, is joining its ranks.
Below is a flavour of what Aileen has achieved. It's no wonder that she was awarded the MBE after Athens, then OBE after Beijing, for services to disabled sport.
The Club, backed up by a kind donation from Alex Douglas, will sponsor Aileen and warmly welcomes her to the Royal Albert Cycling Club.
International Achievements:
2009 World Championships
- Gold in the 1km time trial in a new World Record time of 1:09.054
- Silver in the road time trial
- bronze in the 3km pursuit
2008 Paralympic Games - Beijing
- Gold in the 1km time trial in a new World Record time of 1:09.066
- Gold in the 3km pursuit
2007 World Track Championships
- Gold in the 1km time trial
- Gold in the 3km pursuit
2006 World Track Championships
- Gold in the 1km time trial
2005 European Track Championships
- Gold in the 1km time trial in the Open European Championships
2004 Paralypic Games - Athens
- Gold in the 1km time trial in a new World Record time of 1:11.160
- Silver in the sprint
6 times winner of the Paralympic World Cup Gold
If Aileen cannot inspire others, no one can...and the Club will seek to encourage others to follow her example by joining us and trying to meet their own goals and objectives.

Thanks to everyone for your warm welcome and to Alex for his support!
I look forward to meeting you all soon and hopefully encourage more people to get out on their bike with the Royal Albert CC.

Aileen is currently in Majorca at a BC Training camp.
Apparently she is enjoying it so we'll have to have a quiet word with her when she gets back next week!
Hopefully, by the time Aileen gets back, a very large number of newspaper readers (and maybe even TV viewers) will know that she is now a member of the Royal Albert Cycling Club... |
