Wearing her Royal Albert skinsuit, Aileen will be in the 1K final on Wednesday 28th, the 'Flying 200' on Thursday 29th and the 3K Pursuit on Friday 30th.
Reports say that she and her pilot, Helen, are going really well at the moment...so watch this space!
Whilst writing, I share the disappointment that the Club was not mentioned in a recent two-page spread in the Daily Record about Aileen.
Although Aileen asked the reporter, during the interview, to include the connection to the Club (and called her later to enquire why it didn't happen), the answer was that the editor said 'there was not enough space'. As we all know, the contents of newspaper articles can never be guaranteed.
To be fair, however, the reporter then invited me (via Aileen) to contact her with a view to the Daily Record writing a separate article about the Club and its connection with Aileen.
This was done on 9th September and we can only hope that it finds its way into print.
In the meantime, let's all give Aileen all support for next week.
Morag and I (and the old camera) are going down to see Aileen in the 1K sprint on the Wednesday but, unfortunately, are unable to stay for the next two days.

As we didn't realise that the paralympic races are being held in the evenings, it doesn't suit Morag and I to go down to see tonight's race (1km sprint), and Morag can't make it later in the week.
So, plans have changed and John C and I are travelling down on Friday to support Aileen in the 3km pursuit in the evening. As well as any pics that we can get with my super-duper slow shutter speed digital camera (as the tandem passes at close range at about 32mph!), Aileen has arranged for a proper photographer to take some copyright-free pics for us to use for publicity purposes.
The other BIG bit of news is that Aileen will be coming along to the Clydesdale Colts coaching sessions at Chatelherault on both the 8th and 15th October. She will be wearing RACC kit and is bringing a few Gold medals from Athens and Beijing to show to the kids (and parents!). In addition, she will also join our regular coaches, Alan, Celia and Les, on these days and will coach some of the kids as part of her own level 2 coach training.
Please tell all the parents of 7 to 11 year olds whom you know and encourage them to come along - with their bikes of course!
Location - that grassy area below and in front of Chatelherault House. Car park is on the Overflow Car Park on the right at the end of the drive (before the hill up to the house).
First coaching session is free - 3 per session thereafter. Time - 9.30am to 11am.
Wouldn't it be great to boost the numbers of Clydesdale Colts in this way?

Congratulations to Aileen and Helen (Scott) for winning Silver Medals in the following two tandem races:
1km sprint - Silver Medal, personal best and narrowly missed the world record for their category!
Flying 200m - Silver Medal and World Record for their category!!
In these British Paralympic Track Championships, men can compete against women and the medals are won on a points basis. Each disability category has its own points system, which is in turn based on how close the riders are to the world record for that category.
This points system therefore 'evens out' all the various factors to allow a fair competition.
So, a solo male rider won gold in both of these events, and a male tandem pair won bronze on both occasions.
However, tomorrow's the day of the 3km pursuit and things will be different...because...
Aileen will have two club members, wearing club tops (to match hers), leaning over the barrier, waving a saltire flag and being very, very vocal!
C'mon the Albertos!!!

Aileen did it! She and her pilot, Helen Scott (and aided by myself and John C of course )won Gold on Friday at the British Track Championships in Manchester.
To see a Royal Albert jersey on the podium in Manchester Velodrome, with Sir Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendleton as part of the company, was absolutely amazing.
See News page on the website for report, pic, results and video links.
London 2012 here she comes.
