Clumber Classic Duathlon: run 10km, cycle 40km, run 5km.
I got silver medal in M65 age-group & qualified for World age-group champs in Edinburgh. Weather was wet & cold (3-6 C), which didn't suit me at all (fairweather cyclist!). George Black (M70, Glasgow Nightingale) beat me by 5min! I thought I was fitter for running than cycling, but got really worried when I had to walk a few metres on 2nd lap of 10km run. (too much curry at Fox Hall Inn A66 on Fri evening!) Settled down on bike & thought I was doing well. Didn't see George pass me. When I started 5km run. took off waterproof jacket, hat & gloves, but it didn't help much. Had to walk & jog most of the 5km.
Too early in season for me, but the important thing is that I achieved my target! _________________ davie fairweather |

Well done, Davie! I don't know how you manage the sudden transition from one discipline to the other but, know what? You're good at it!
Looking forward to an in-season result in Edinburgh!
